About the Film
Rogue Elephants: A Story of Mentorship is a documentary commissioned by the Emerging 100 of Atlanta exploring mentorship, presence, and the moments that shape young men’s trajectories in their formative years.
Across communities, young men often navigate critical stages of life without consistent guidance or clear examples of what is possible beyond their immediate environment. The impact of that absence can surface through uncertainty, misdirection, or missed opportunities long before it becomes visible to the world.
The relationships featured are built through trust. This film documents a representative sample, told through firsthand accounts, of a community of Atlanta success story. Rather than offering simple answers, Rogue Elephants invites viewers to engage in reflection on responsibility, accountability, and the role the community plays in shaping identity and purpose.
The title draws from a metaphor found in nature, where strength without guidance can lead to disorientation and destructiveness. In that same way, the film asks what becomes possible when guidance returns and how a sustained presence can begin the healing process, and alter the course of lives.
